Help with my new diet

topic posted Mon, June 4, 2007 - 6:39 AM by  Milo
Okay, so my human decided to change my diet with all the scary stuff going on. It has been 1 month. She put me on Inova Evo for kittens dry and wet. I like the dry food but won't touch the wet. She mixed it with my old wet food and cut back little by little but I won't eat it. Would eating just the dry food be healthy enough for me. (She also tried Wellnes wet food and I don't like that one either)

Try Merrick - it's homeopathic and the ingrediants are great! My cat Lily is super picky and she just loves it!

perhaps you meant to say that Merrick is a "natural" food?
Merrick does claim to abstain from artificial additives, flavorings or preservatives, and that some of the ingredients are organic, but a search of their website turned up nothing on homeopathy. I doubt there's any such thing as homeopathic food.

Milo, your body developed for desert survival. As a successful desert predator, the feline body is designed to acquire its water rations through devouring the bodies of prey animals. If you eat only dry food, you will be chronically dehydrated, because you just won't want to drink enough water, no matter how much fuss and bother your human goes through to make it more appealing. My feline friend Harvey, who is 9 years old, is sitting here with his paw on my arm, to make sure I tell you how much you will hate developing struvite crystals in your urinary tract if you don't get enough water, as this is something that he has struggled with for the last 3 years. If you think the Evo wet food is bad, just wait till you are stuck on one flavor of prescription wet food for the rest of your life. So please tell your human to keep trying different high quality wet foods. That_Woman_Sez has some posts with reviews of the some of the better foods, I'll go now and see if I can find a link for you.

Because after all Harvey and I have gone through together, knowing what I know now, in your human's shoes, if after trying several of the high quality foods, if you still would not eat them, I would take away the dry food, and let you go hungry until you started eating the good wet stuff. I know that sounds harsh, but water is a most important nutrient, and the one nutrient that dry foods don't have. And it's probably better to force the issue now while you are healthy, than have to do so while you are battling urinary tract infections, and blockages due to crystal formations.

Thanks everyone. My human went and bought the eight can sample package of Merrick. I love the New England Boiled and the Cowboy Cookout. The Turduckin was so so.

She also found out that I luv the Innova Evo so much that I would rather eat that then anything else, so she has to take it away before I will eat my wet food.

    Thank you all once again.
