Sappho stopped eating and drinking a few days ago.
We took her to the ER vet and she had normal bloodwork (except for dehydration), abdomen felt ok, normal Xray, no sign of transmissable disease (fever etc).
She was given subcu saline and sent home. Has stomach medicine also.
We couldn't get her into a vet on saturday and one of the ones we spoke with then, said to wait till monday.
Since then we've been putting water in the food (merrick) and force-feeding her with a syringe but she's barely holding it down.
For a kitty who has always been a voracious eater, this is so hard to deal with.
I feel she's given up. She is overweight and the doc said she might have pancreatitis - but since she has no fever, it's hard to say - and she also said it was hard to treat also.
I'm worried she's beginning to get uremic disease - she threw up bile this morning.
Any suggestions welcome.
I'm in Seattle - if there are any really good vets who you might think can deal with this in the area pls let me know.
cheers - Nadine
